Straightening your teeth is a great and important way to enhance your personal appearance and boost your self-esteem and confidence. At Amara Dental Easton, Pa, we understand and support the importance and need to improve self-esteem, confidence, and of course, the health of your teeth & gums.

Beaces treatment is widely common for orthodontic patients. Today there are many reasonable options, inculding traditional metal braces, concealed clear or tooth colored braces, and clear aligners - a relatively new option for adults and teens. Orthodontic patients now have more options than ever.

Metal braces / Traditional braces

Traditional metal braces are by far the most common type of fixed braces still to this day. Comprised of high-grade stainless steel with metal bands that wrap around the back molars, as well as small metal brackets that are cemented to the front of teeth and a thin metal wire that gently guides teeth into proper position.

Why does this option continue to be the most commonly used? They are sturdy, durable, and practical. Though somewhat different to the metal braces of the past, today's are smaller, lighter and more comfortable to wear. You can even get decked out and add colorful elastics to your braces for a really fun and special look.

Ceramic Braces

A newer and fairly popular option among patients is the clear ceramic braces. These braces use the same components as traditional braces with one major difference - the brackets on the front side of the teeth are maded of translucent ceramic material that blends in with the tooth's natural color. This option is a hit thanks to its less noticeable look.

Elastic bands aroundceramic braces can become less dirable and more noticable when strained, but the good news is they are generally changed monthly. Ceramic braces are more costly than metal, however the value for a more inconspicuous look is outstanding.

Lingual Braces

Believe it or not, there is an even more subtle and low-key look: ;ingual braces. These work in the same way that metal braces do, but their placement is slightly different. Lingual braces are placed on the tongue-side of the teeth. They tend to require more time to get use to and may prolong treatment. This option costs significantly more than standard braces, but thess tradeoffs may not be a deal breaker for you if "invisible" is the look you want.

Removable Aligners

Another alternative to fixed orthodontic appliances is a very unique option: removable aligners. Removabe cleear aligners are a series of clear plastict "trays" that fit over your teeth, each one moving your teeht a little bit until they are in proper position. At Amara Dental we are pleased to offer Invisalign branded aligners.

After a thorough examination at our Easton, PA dental office, your dentist will help you choose your optimum treatment option.‚Äč
